Outlaw runners
Runners get caught on speed cameras in Paris.
Breaking speed limits
It’s now official: traffic in Paris is limited to 30 km/h. Good news for some, bad news for others. And for a few, it’s the perfect chance to push the limits. DISTANCE, the specialized running store in Paris, decided to embrace this new law with a series of speeding violations. Spoiler alert: not by car, but by running.
Caught on camera
On August 31, a group of runners set off on a nocturnal rodeo, sprinting from radar to radar with the sole aim of getting flashed. In a video shared on social media, they can be seen sprinting and triggering the speed cameras, becoming “Outlaw Runners” for one night only.
« Strike the pose ! »
But the goal wasn’t just to poke fun at the new law. The radar shots were later used as the core visuals for DISTANCE’s campaign across various media (POS displays, billboards, social media). To amplify visibility, the Outlaw Runners themselves shared their stunt through their own networks. Among them were Léna Kandissounon (French 800m champion) and Quentin Malriq (French U23 1500m champion).
Get yourself flashed
To give as many people as possible the chance to test their speed, DISTANCE held a speed contest on Sunday, September 5, following the Paris Half Marathon. A radar was set up right outside the store at 14 rue des Filles du Calvaire, 75003 Paris. Everyone had the chance to give their best effort and find out if they had what it takes to be an Outlaw Runner.
